The Great Water Balloon

Week's starting weight: 241.5
(Resists temptation to call self Shamu)
Well, I did it. I drank 122 ounces of water yesterday. And all two of you who read this blog will be thrilled to read that I am grateful for Poise pads. It would have been wet spot on front of pants time if not for this handy invention. I have Slack Bladder anyway, and with the increase in liquids--well, you get the picture.
I don't feel quite as uncomfortable today, so maybe I'm getting used to it.
Besides, if I do manage to lose weight, I'll be able to drink less. Now, that's motivation!
I'm running in place for a minute every hour. May not sound like much, but I think it might be enough to rev up the shitty metabolism a little.
I worked out on this exercise bicycle that makes you use not only your legs but your arms last night. My arms are wimpy! I got through 20 minutes.
Will all this lead to me losing weight or will it simply be a lifelong struggle not to weigh 300 pounds like Great Grandma did. Damn, that would be frustrating!
I honestly don't need to be stick skinny. But if I can't lose a minimum of 10 pounds by next year this time, it's lap band time.

You work so hard for this, if anyone deserves to have a break it's you.

You go! Running in place reminds me of "Walk Away The Pounds" by Leslie Sansone. I'm sure you've heard of it. I lost 15 pounds doing it when I first started my weight loss circa 2003. Stick to your guns...I know how frustrating it is. I've been trying to lose the last 10 pounds for 2 years. Don't give up.

Amanda,
I guess the Deities of Beauty don't think I deserve a break. Maybe I was a real asshole in another life and I deserve this. :-(
CCC, I used to have a Leslie Sansone workout tape. Unfortunately, this is far from the LAST ten pounds I need to lose. I have been steadily gaining weight for the last five years. I have gained 95 pounds. I've changed my habits a lot. For instance at work, where I used to easily eat 800-1000 calories during my shift I now eat 250-500. But it doesn't make a damn bit of difference. I still seem to be gaining. Sorry to be whining. I honestly sometimes think I'd be better off dead. But then some poor sap would have to roll this blubbery carcass into a grave.

I saw your picture. You are a handsome woman, and I mean this in a totally non-threatening, heterosexual manner. :) I don't know if you pissed off anyone above or below, I certainly don't think so, but I do know it's incredibly hard to lose weight if something in our bodies ain't working right.

Any news from the doc?

Hi Amanda,
Guess one thing isn't working right for now--I'm getting my damn period, which turns me into the bloated whale from hell. I appreciate the non-threatening heterosexual compliment! :-)
I probably wouldn't think I was ugly if I just saw me walking around--just like if I wasn't me, I'd probably think I was pretty cool. It's the knowing all my irritating habits and self-sabotaging ways that keep me turned against myself!
I see the nurse practitioner on friday and get one of "those" exams that I have avoided for seventeen years! She'll also go over my test results with me.
As I blather on, I was reading about what happened to Robbin Crosby (rhythym guitarist for Ratt) when he got AIDS. His pancreas quit working properly and in spite of not being able to eat much because he felt sick, he went from 245 pounds (he was 6'6" tall) to over 400 pounds when he died. He said that his roommate, who weighed 150 pounds, ate twice as much as he did. What a horrible, helpless feeling. He was such a handsome, talented guy. Unfortunately IV drugs kill a lot of people, and not just from the drugs, also from the needles. I was never tempted to take that path, but as an addictive personality I can understand.
Gee, how'bout a rant!
